Umbraco Freelancer Kent
Hi! I'm Justin, an Umbraco Certified Master based in Kent, and I've been building Umbraco websites since 2013. I have a background in .NET web development across the finance, banking and healthcare industries, and I've worked as a freelance web developer for the last 13 years.
I'm an Umbraco MVP for 2026, and my AI Log Analyser package won the Umbraco AI Package Award at Codegarden 2026.
I really enjoy working with Umbraco. It's a fantastic platform for building websites that are easy to use, flexible and fully extensible. If you're looking for a freelance Umbraco developer, I'd bring plenty of hands-on experience to your project.

FAQs
How much do you charge?
We believe in clear, honest pricing with no hidden surprises. Our standard rate is £80 + VAT per hour, which works out to £560 + VAT for a seven-hour working day.
This transparent rate applies to all our services including Umbraco development, technical support, maintenance and updates, and consultancy or planning work. All work is agreed in advance, and we provide detailed time tracking so you can see exactly where time is being spent on your project.
Do you charge the same rates when sub-contracting for an agency?
No, we have a special agency rate of £70 + VAT per hour for work undertaken through another agency. This works out as £490 + VAT for a seven-hour working day.
Do you offer a retainer?
Yes, we offer retainers where you can purchase blocks of time each month at the set rate of £70 + VAT per hour so you have predictable costs. A retainer can be as small as half a day or up to multiple days per month as required. Retainer time must be used by the end of each month and does not roll over to the following month.
The benefits of a retainer include pro-active maintenance and support, such as CMS updates, bug fixing, small changes, editor support and website availability monitoring. We don't need to wait for approval on support so if your site goes down we will get it up and running again without any delays.
Any time used over and above a retainer will be charged at our normal rate of £80 + VAT per hour.
Can you give me an estimate for some work?
Yes, I can give you an estimate but I will need to know exactly what is required. Please provide as much information as possible and I may have to ask questions to get further clarification.
What is your availability?
My availability varies week by week so it is best to contact me to discuss availability. I tend to have gaps for smaller pieces of work but any larger projects will need to be scheduled around other work.
Will you travel for work?
I work remotely but I can travel if this is required. Any travel costs and time will be chargeable although if you are local I am happy to travel within a reasonable distance (i.e. within 15 miles).
Do you do front-end and back-end development?
Yes, I am a full stack developer so I am comfortable with both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc) and back-end development (.NET, C#, MVC, SQL, etc).
What are your payment terms?
I will invoice you once the work is complete so you don't normally need to pay anything upfront. For larger projects I may ask for an upfront payment of 50%.
Do you take on existing websites?
Yes, I offer both development and support for existing websites. In order to take on an existing website, I will need:
Full administrator access to the CMS
A copy of the latest source code (including assets, templates, SASS files, WebPack/Grunt/Gulp build scripts, etc)
A copy of the database
Login details for the existing hosting environment
Details of any third-party integrations (Stripe etc)
Do you host websites?
Yes, I have a dedicated virtual server for hosting websites if required, alternatively I can manage websites hosted on your own server, Microsoft Azure or on Umbraco Cloud.
Can you give me some examples of your work?
The majority of the websites I work on are built for other agencies so I am not allowed to advertise them but I am able to supply a list on request.
